The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is on from 9-12th January at RDS in Dublin and packed with exciting shows!
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is the final stage in a competition that culminates in an event that’s the largest of its kind in Europe. The 2019 competition received over 2,000 submissions from schools and colleges from the length and breadth of Ireland. 550 projects were selected to go through to the final and our young reporter India O’Reilly is herself, one of the finalists. Together with her fellow student and co-inventor Nicole Hyland she’ll be demonstrating their invention called a ‘Cupboard Checker’ to help those who are visually impaired. This beautifully simple concept using available inexpensive technology has many practical applications across a range of helpful solutions and support for others with mobility issues or for those who for whatever reason would benefit from being able to remotely check ‘what’s in their cupboard’ whether visually impaired or not.
