Bit of a bum title but these hang drum maestros have levitated one of my favourite sounds to another plane and reached a wide audience and this a bow to their greatness
I’m too old to be influenced by vibrational sound snobs who j’adore musical modalities and genres when they’re a bit underground or not tainted by being popularised into everyday life but when it breaks through to mainstream it’s ‘pants’ or old news. C’mon you know the ones I mean. You bump into them blissed out at an event after a gong bath and share your wondrous experience … they smile compassionately (condescending undertones) and smile all knowingly. “Bless you. Enjoy. I too was in awe after my first gong healing … about ten years ago. Namaste.”

Hang Massive low down:
Soon after having met in India in 2010, English Danny Cudd and Swedish Markus Johansson formed Hang Massive. They were one of the first to become known for playing the Hang. Their original composition “Once Again” has had 35,854,593 views on YouTube as of 6th Jan 2018, 2.08am UK time. They’ve released two live albums and a studio album, have toured North America, Europe, and Australia. For all things Hang Massive visit their website here.
I’ve been personally using this video below since August as a regular meditative device when four-point breathing doesn’t completely calm spiralling thoughts when I need to wind down for sleep. I love watching them play. The epitome of being in the now moment. Present. Content. Blissful peaceful abiding while fully awake. This is also my favourite video of theirs so far. Eight minutes of pure simplicity, beauty and sound healing. ‘The Secret Kissing of the Sun and Moon.’ Be still my beating hang.
